Thrills! Excitement! and JOY!

I have been with MyRaceHorse for over 2 years and can honestly says it has been a great adventure. I have always been a fan of horse racing but this takes it to the next level by being a fan and an owner! I have learned a tremendous amount about the industry and the process. Thanks MRH for giving me this opportunity. šŸ™‚

MyRacehorse Laurie, thank you for being a part of the MRH family! We love when our owners feel included in the world of horse racing and broaden their knowledge of the sport!

A Great Experience

MyRacehorse lets people who aren't millionaires have a piece of the racehorse experience. And yes, it is an experience. Even the millionaires have horses need injury time off at times or have horses who don't always meet expectation. That's just part of the business. MRH is totally up front about what you get and that there are no guarantees, and there are no additional monthly fees after your first investment. Where else can you get a piece of a horse sired by a Triple Crown winner for $100? Most of the people complaining are complaining about not making money, but this is about the whole ownership experience. It is not an investment to make money; the great majority of racehorses across the board for anyone in the industry do not make money. And anybody complaining about Authentic didn't read the paperwork thoroughly on that offering; it was very clear on the kickers that would be paid to former owners if he won the Derby or Breeders' Cup, thereby taking those purses. The real value of that one offering, unlike most of theirs, is in the breeding career, and I'm confident that Authentic's shareholders will come out on top in a few years. But with MRH, on my small budget, I have a graded stakes winner and a grade I stakes placed already. I have seen over a dozen races with "my" horses, some wins, lots of thrills. I'm happy, and they are very informative and patient and helpful.

MyRacehorse Deborah, thanks so much for your support of MRH! We are so happy to have so many wonderful owners like yourself.

I started off with solar strike, who is now retired before making it to the track. Next was Authentic, who obviously did the exact opposite! I was happy with both horses and the communication from MyRacehorse on both. I’ve continued to buy shares and have experienced the highs and lows, but that is a part of horse racing no matter where you are. Having worked in the industry, I can say that it’s not just a fluke with MyRacehorse. These people care about the horses and put them and their needs first. I am so happy to be a part of the MyRacehorse family!

Have a few horses. Mo was sent into a 25 claimer. Claimed of course. Now in for a nice allowance race .. we’ll see. He has not been nutted so breeding value is up. Mgmt of this site are getting rich. Micro guys … forgetta bout it

MyRacehorse Hi Jim, sorry to hear about your disappointment. You can reach out to support@myracehorse.com for more specific inquiries. With Mo Mischief, our trainer Todd Pletcher did his best to place him in a spot that he would be competitive in. Unfortunately that corresponds with him being claimed, and we wish his new owners the best of luck. He is running in a starter allowance on Saturday, which is race that's conditions include specifically horses that have run in a claiming race before. Mo Mischief did not fit this condition in his last start with us, which is why that was not an option for us to run him in. In order to qualify to run in that race, he had to run in a claiming race, so the risk was always there. Our team did not consider him to be competitive in a regular allowance race, and the starter allowance is not as competitive.

Never thought I would have the opportunity to own a racehorse, much less 40 of them! Yes, there are low points when a horse is hurt or performs below expectations, but then a horse will win a stakes race (Moonlight D'Oro) or the Kentucky Derby (Authentic) or set a track record (Lane Way) and the feeling is so incredible!! I get to participate in a sport I have loved all my life! So grateful for my Grateful Deb stables!

I have micro shares in 20 horses and the ones that race come in the lower half of the races and the other half are in the hospital

MyRacehorse Hello Gary, thanks for writing in. Horse racing is part luck, part planning. Unfortunately, you can never plan for an injury, and we do our best by the horse to give them time off when they aren't fighting fit. A brief look at your stable shows that you have a share in the Future Stars Stable package, which is comprised of 2-year-olds. Statistically, only 35% of 2-year-olds race in their first year, so what you're experiencing is simply par for the course and a part of the game. We want all of our 2-year-olds to be successful, and they're paired with great trainers who know the sport inside out and will set them up for their best chance at long-term success. If you have further questions on your stable or any horses in particular, please reach out to our Customer Support team at support@myracehorse.com.

Impossible to make any money. Had 2 horses end up in the money in last 2 months but didn’t make anything. This is a huge problem! Spin it how u want but I won’t be buying anymore shares. Your only hope for survival of MyRacehorse is finding new people who buy a bunch of shares right away Because once they see how it works money will buy

MyRacehorse Hi Doug, sorry to hear about your frustration. When a horse has a layoff, the reserve account for that horse depletes in accordance with the cost of rehabilitation and the lack of income due to not racing. Therefore, depending on the status of the reserve account, prize money that is won after a layoff can often go to refilling the reserve account before dividends are issued to owners. Once a horse is retired or sold, the remainder of the reserve account will be distributed to shareholders. This is all part of our model of a one-time purchase price for shares. Thanks for owning with us!

Would like to see 2 year olds not raced So many injuries in the ones I have got a share in I dont mind waiting to see them race ALso asked for an update on a horse that was injured and was given wrong information not given the latest update If a shareholder asks, seems the responding person needs to check their information for the latest instead of regurgitating

MyRacehorse Hello Linda, thank you for your concern. Only about 35% of 2-year-olds make it to the races in their freshman year, but training as a 2-year-old has been proven to be integral to bone development in racehorses. We have full confidence in our trainers and pre-trainers care and handling of all of our horses, and those that are ready to run will run. Injuries or setbacks are just a part of the process. We are also sorry to hear that you were given the wrong information. Occasionally a mistake will be made as we have so many horses, and we apologize for that error. Got to Big to Fast

I think MRH has grown to big and to fast. Updates are slow in coming now, horses are put into claiming races if they finish out of the money in 2 races and there seems to be a lack of management over the horses. There are 3 main regions, South, Northeast and West but only the West Coast really has a racing manager, and a damn good one at that. With the growth in the stables, human support has not kept up. This is just my humble opinion as an owner of 9 individual horses.

MyRacehorse Hello William, we are sorry to hear that you feel that way. We have racing managers in all major jurisdictions who do a wonderful job of managing their horses despite the number of tracks and locations that these horses are based at. We are proud of their work and of the rest of the support our team has. We do our best to provide updates as often as possible, and we continue to put in new processes weekly to improve our program. Thank you for your support and feedback, and as always, we continue to strive to do our best for all of our owners!

MyRacehorse Hello JM, thank you for writing in to us and we are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. Horse racing is a game of highs and lows, and unfortunately setbacks are a part of the game. However, we do our best by the horse, so whenever there appears to be a slight change in a horse's training or temperament, we evaluate them. This helps us catch potential injuries as early as possible, and allows for the best outcome for the horse - time off and healing. Spendthrift is a leading institution in the thoroughbred industry, from breeding to racing, and we are quite confident in their ability to select and manage horses, and in our relationship with them. We have the utmost confidence in their decisions.

Great For What It Is But...

I've really enjoyed being a part of this experience.l, which otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do. compared to other options this is one that is affordable and gives you a feel of being in the game. The butt comes with how MRH markets itself in terms of making money. I don't see any way possible to offset your costs with purse distribution. The largest reward for me thus far after being involved with 10 or so horses has been $6 after a grade 3 win. so while I get to say that I am a quote owner of a Kentucky Derby winner, I can't say that I've even broken even on the investment I made in him. but I don't expect to. it's all about the experience. I just wish MRH would sell themselves that way because it's really misleading.

MyRacehorse We are happy to hear you are enjoying your experience with MyRacehorse. The concept of MyRacehorse is also based on experiential value. When you become an owner, you receive regular updates on your horse delivered right to your app/desktop. These include photos, videos and notes from trainers. You also have opportunities to visit the horse, attend on-track events, and be invited to the winner's circle for winning photos -- pending track rules. These are all exciting perks that are made possible by MyRacehorse. Even though you may only have a small portion of ownership, we do our best to create an experience that a majority owner would enjoy.

Sooo... Where does someone start. As a common man on the outside looking In I notice a huge problem.. You are paying way to much for these athletes. I have pick maybe 10 of your stable runners. Zero I mean zero of them have run good. Wow your choices are ridiculous. I will Never purchase another share ... I mean Never. I went in to this with a hugely open mind. It has been a big disappointment to say the least. The people pulling the string should be fired.. If you notice a down tick in your common persons sales. It's been a long year but this has been a massive disaster. You have lost my small business. But if you want to keep others you most produce winners not ..veterinary visits. So wickedly disappointed

MyRacehorse Matthew, we understand your frustration, owning 2-year-olds can be challenging. In fact, according to Jockey Club statistics, roughly only 35 percent of 2-year-olds from a foal crop (usually about 19-20k foals born per year), will make a start at the races at the age of 2. Each 2-year-old is very much an individual and they grow and mature on their own timetable. Because they are still young athletes and are continuing to develop when they reach the racetrack to begin training, minor injuries, such as sore shins, are not at all uncommon and require backing off training so as not to cause serious injury. Also, some 2-year-olds are simply not as advanced mentally compared to their peers, and need to be nurtured by our trainers to get to the point where they can reach the starting gate in the afternoon and be in a position to have the best possible first-race experience. Our bloodstock team has a combined over 50 years of experience. We do our best to select athletes and horses that will have residual value, and our purchase prices vary from a horse like Vertical Threat, who we bought for $100,000 and is now a multiple stakes winner (despite having never run at two) to horses like Authentic, who was already a proven racehorse and had built in kickers in our deal that rewarded his prior owners when he met success, but also serve as a reminder of the residual value he will be producing for our owners as his first crop goes to stud. We want the very best for our owners and for our horses, and we do our best to manage our horses' careers so they have the highest likelihood of succeeding. That does involve time off and allowing a horse to progress at a pace that does not push it beyond its limits, but enables it to thrive. All of our decisions are backed by data and analysis. Though you may be discouraged with your young stable at the moment, there is still much optimism to be had in the thought that there are endless examples of horses who started off slow that rose to the occasion and had highly successful careers. Wishing you the best of luck with your stable and please feel free to reach out to us with questions or comments whenever they may arise.

My fiancƩ purchased shares of Search Engine. We had a trip planned to Louisville from out of state and we found out he would be making his debut the weekend we were in town. We were beyond excited and entered the lottery for tickets. We won tickets to the Roses Lounge and received an email from MRH stating to pick up the tickets at the Will Call window under my name. We dressed as if we would be watching the races from the lounge. When we arrived at Will Call they had no tickets for us, there was also another gentleman and his wife waiting for their tickets. We both showed the emails and attempted to contact MRH, but no luck. When we asked about purchasing tickets to the same area, they were sold out. Needless to say I was never contacted back by MRH and had to hear from my other half how MRH was a joke and a scam all night instead of enjoying my time at the races. If these perks are going to be offered as part of the package then have controls in place to ensure the events go off smoothly, as well as a customer service rep that can help resolve any issue as they occur.

MyRacehorse Josh, we are so incredibly sorry to hear about this mishap. This is not representative of our intentions here at MRH in any form, and we give you our sincerest apologies regarding the breakdown in communication regarding the will call situation and where to pick up the tickets. On the winner email for the ticket lottery we stated that an RSVP would be necessary and when we received the RSVP we were actually able to send the tickets directly to the lottery winners because of Churchill’s last minute ticketing policy change. We would love to offer you complimentary tickets to the Keeneland meet which is held October 8-30. Please let us know if you are able to attend any of those dates and we will ensure that you have a special experience with top class hospitality.

To quick to retire horses

Myracehorse is very quick to retire horses because they have already made their money.

MyRacehorse Andy, thanks for your inquiry. We do our best to place our horses where we think that they will be most successful, backed by data, horsemanship, observation, and analysis. When a horse is injured, we defer to our resident veterinarian to determine if that horse can successfully rehab and return to racing. If the prognosis is not good, we will retire the horse. If a horse is not doing well in its training, we consult our trainer and our resident veterinarian to determine if it is time to move that horse on to another career, whether in the breeding shed or in one of the many post-racing careers horses have, ranging from equine therapy to dressage to trail riding. What is certain is we always do our best by the horse, and we do our best to be transparent with our owners about the entire process.

Have LOW expectations

If you think you’re gonna make money, think again. Fun to sorta have a stake in a horse, but many of the horses I bought haven’t run. Breaking even requires a horse to race a lot and win a lot. Making a profit? Nah.

MyRacehorse Hi Jeff, Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear you feel this way. Profitability is probably the most common and difficult question to give a satisfying answer to. Profitability when it comes to owning a racehorse has a lot of variables including race earnings, training and care costs (if those costs are part of that particular horse’s offering plan), etc. Those variables can have a wide range of scenarios due to how much purse money the horse is running for and how long it is in training. We are very upfront that it is a very difficult proposition to turn a profit in this industry. Many horses don't pan out. It is important to embrace the other sides of the industry, namely the experiences, updates, visits with your horse, parties, etc. and put the financial equation second. However, that does not mean turning a profit isn't possible. Yes, many of your horses are either coming back from an injury or having to take a step back due to possible injuries. The truth is younger horses often have much more frequent setbacks than their older counterparts as they are still rapidly growing and developing. In fact, most horses that end up making a start at the races actually don't race at 2. However, studies over the years have shown training their bodies at 2 for the rigors of racing to build proper foundation and bone is essential to long-term soundness and health. Injury and setback rates are widespread across the industry. Owners outside of MyRacehorse experience the same issues on a frequent basis. For us, each horse's situation and health are thoroughly discussed as an injury/setback is discovered, and during the rehab process, and then when deciding whether or not to send a horse back into training for starts at the races. I hope this helps and have a great day!

Disappointed

I am disappointed to see that MRH has decided to try to give away Mo Mischief after four races. I carefully read your charts and reasoning, but to offer an Into Mischief that we paid $500,000 for to be claimed for five percent of that value seems premature at best. Mo has been favored in all four of his MSW efforts and finished second twice. This looks to me like Todd Pletcher just wants the horse out of his stable. The whole point of this endeavor is to enjoy seeing "our" horses run. To have a horse taken away for $25,000 certainly doesn't benefit the owners.

MyRacehorse Good morning Chuck, Thank you for reaching out about Mo Mischief, I completely understand where you're coming from. Unfortunately, the pedigree of a horse or their price tag at auction does not guarantee high success on the racetrack. Our team ran those charts at the MSW level at the 14 different race tracks currently running to see where Mo Mischief could be competitive at and more specifically, where he could win. The data was not in his favor, which made us come to the conclusion to give him a class relief by entering in a maiden claiming. We want to see our horses be successful in their racing career, and unfortunately, Mo Mischief does not fit the high quality 3-year-old category and isn't competitive at the MSW level. We were hoping this class relief will benefit him and help him go to the winner's circle, and it did. While we were "okay" with him getting claimed, we would have loved for him to win and continue to enjoy him in the MRH stable. Unfortunately, these are the risks of the game, and we had to run him with those conditions as we felt it would be in his best interests for his career. At the end of the day, we want to do what is best for the horse in every aspect, even if that means dropping a horse in class to help them win. I hope this helps, please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

"Once" in a Lifetime?

When Authentic won the Breeders’ Classic last year, I thought it was likely a once in a lifetime experience and could only hope it might happen again… someday. Just a year later, I owe shares in five -- count ā€˜em, FIVE -- horses that are being entered this weekend in ā€œwin and you’re inā€ races for the Breeders’ Cup. There’s a sixth entered that I don’t own in, and a seventh that has already won a ā€œwin and you’re inā€ stakes. Regardless of how they do, and how many or few actually participate on Breeders’ Cup day, it seems quite a remarkable accomplishment for any ownership group, let alone one that has been in existence for such a short time. I hope you all at MyRacehorse are able to pause and appreciate just how much success this innovative concept has had. I’m in awe.

MyRacehorse Regina, thank you so much for your support! Best of luck this weekend - it truly is an accomplishment that everyone at MRH is proud of, regardless of the outcome!

Monomoy Girl

I am so disappointed to hear that Monomoy Girl is retiring. She was the horse that got me interested in horse racing and horse ownership. I cant afford the other ownership offers out there so very thankful to My Racehorse for giving me a stable of horses to root for. I wish they would be racing every week. Love you Monomoy Girl! Cant wait for a fold to carry on your winning tradition!!

MyRacehorse David, we share your feelings about Monomoy Girl - she is such a wonderful mare and it is sad to see her retire, but it is definitely in her best interests. Glad you are enjoying MRH and we also can't wait to see Monomoy's foals!
